How to crop
Drag inside the box to move it, drag a corner or edge to resize. Drag on empty canvas to start a new box. Choosing an aspect locks the box to that ratio.
What the size fields mean
Size is the pixel size of the saved file. It defaults to the crop area; change the width and the height follows the ratio. Values larger than the crop enlarge the image and soften it, so start from a big enough original.
Common sizes
Profile and thumbnails 1:1 (Instagram 1080, marketplaces 1000), YouTube thumbnail 16:9 at 1280×720, Instagram portrait 4:5 → crop 3:4 then 1080×1350, ID photo 3:4.
Formats
JPG at 88 is small with no visible loss for photos. PNG for transparency or text, WebP for the web. The image is redrawn on a canvas, so EXIF (including GPS) is not carried over.
Tips for common situations
Square Profile Photo Cropping
Lock the crop box to 1:1 to keep your face centered within circular avatar frames used on most platforms. Location coordinates and camera details are stripped automatically from the exported file to protect your privacy.
Widescreen Crop for Web Headers
Select the 16:9 preset and adjust the bounding box to frame landscapes or workspace photos without distortion. Specify exact target pixel dimensions such as 1920x1080 to match your website layout requirements precisely.
Vertical 9:16 Crop for Short-Form Video
Use the 9:16 preset to frame a tall composition that fills mobile screens without any content being cut off. Export as WebP or PNG for sharp, lightweight images suitable for video thumbnails and story covers.
Tried with a sample file
Screens and numbers from actually running this tool with a sample file with no personal data (2026-10-06, Chromium-based browser on a Mac). Results vary with your input and device.
We selected the '1:1 square' ratio on a 3600×2400 sample photo, and the crop box locked to a square. The downloaded file measured 2400×2400 at 454 KB. Available ratios are free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, and 3:2, with output in JPG, PNG, or WebP.

Is my photo uploaded?
No. Cropping and saving happen in your browser.
Can I crop many images at once?
One at a time here. To only shrink a batch, use the max-width option in Convert & Compress Images.
Rotation?
EXIF orientation from phones is applied automatically. Free rotation is not available yet.
Can I save the cropped image to an exact pixel size?
Yes, after selecting the crop area, you can specify the exact output pixels while maintaining the crop ratio.
Are location data kept in the cropped image?
No, all EXIF data including location information is removed from the output file.
Does the crop tool work offline?
Yes, once the page is fully loaded, you can crop images even without an internet connection.
What formats can I save my cropped image as?
You can save the cropped result as a JPG, PNG, or WebP file.
