Size is the pixel size of the saved file. It defaults to the crop area; change the width and the height follows the ratio. Values larger than the crop enlarge the image and soften it, so start from a big enough original.
Profile and thumbnails 1:1 (Instagram 1080, marketplaces 1000), YouTube thumbnail 16:9 at 1280×720, Instagram portrait 4:5 → crop 3:4 then 1080×1350, ID photo 3:4.
JPG at 88 is small with no visible loss for photos. PNG for transparency or text, WebP for the web. The image is redrawn on a canvas, so EXIF (including GPS) is not carried over.
