Why the numbers differ
A physical size (3×4cm) and an upload size (300×400px) are separate requirements. Upload systems check pixels and file size, so matching only the centimetres gets the photo rejected. This tool matches both. At 300dpi, 3×4cm is 354×472px.
Positioning the face
Keep the headroom and the space under the chin balanced, shoulders level and the face centred. Dragging a corner keeps the locked ratio, so the face never stretches.
Size caps
When a cap such as 100KB or 240KB is set, the quality is stepped down on save until the file fits. If it still does not, reduce the output width or use a photo with a simpler background.
Upscaling looks soft
If the cropped area is smaller than the output pixels the image is enlarged and softens; the info line warns you. For passports and visas, check the accepting authority's rules first — many require a studio photo.

Legacy System 115x150 Pixel Photo
Select the 115x150 pixel preset to match strict upload requirements of older intranet or academic systems. The ratio-locked frame prevents distortion, and the tool resizes high-resolution originals down to the exact specified dimensions.
Tried with a sample file
Screens and numbers from actually running this tool with a sample file with no personal data (2026-10-06, Chromium-based browser on a Mac). Results vary with your input and device.
We selected the 'Certificate application (3×4 cm, 100 KB)' preset for a sample photo. The output was 354×472 px at 55 KB, within the 100 KB limit. A locked-ratio crop box lets you position the subject before exporting.

What about EXIF data?
The result is redrawn through a canvas, so location and device metadata are not carried over.

No, there is no face detection. You need to manually move the ratio-locked crop box over your face.
What happens if my original photo is very small?
