Double-clicking a .hwp file on macOS does nothing, or TextEdit opens it as a wall of garbled characters. macOS has no idea what the format is.

HWP is a word processor format used almost exclusively inside South Korea. Apple never had a reason to support it, so Quick Look, Pages and TextEdit all fail. TextEdit shows you the raw binary, which is why the characters look broken.
