When an AVIF image saved from the web won't open in documents or editors. AVIF is a newer format far smaller than JPG at the same quality, but many sites and programs don't accept it yet. JPG is lossy, small for photos and opens everywhere, but has no transparency.
Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari read AVIF. Quality 85–92 is visually indistinguishable.
